About SWYAA India


Ship for World Youth Alumni Association-India (SWYAA-India) is an Alumni Association (AA) of delegates sent by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), Government of India since 1989 to participate in the Ship for World Youth (SWY) program and the Global Youth Leadership Development Program (GLDP) organized by the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. Till date, 158 Indian delegates have been nominated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India in 14 batches.
   
After participating in the Ship for World Youth Program the ex-participating youths from India have been working actively towards fostering International Cooperation among the Ex-Participating Youths (Ex-PYs) from various countries of the SWY program. This is being done through international exchange activities and youth programs in their societies, workplaces and schools capitalizing on their experiences gained through the SWY program. In addition, they have assumed a role as a bridge of friendship between the other participating countries around the world.
SWYAA-India was founded for the purpose of continuing the spirit that was fostered through the SWY program. The main activities of the SWYAA include managing post-program social development activities that contribute to society in India, strengthening ties with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Japanese Embassy and the Government of Japan, as well as offering support and organizing training for the future participants of the program. SWYAA-India is a part of the centralized network of AAs from across 62 countries, SWYAA-International and the International Youth Exchange Organization of Japan.
